A non-toxic, non-abrasive organic blonde sphagnum peat moss harvested from the bogs of Newfoundland. A lightweight, natural hydrocarbon absorbent: more cost effective, more efficient absorbency power, and easier to use than any other products. Oclansorb is the component used in all socks, booms & kits.
WHAT DOES OCLANSORB DO?
Absorbs hydrocarbons by encapsulating them on contact. Requires less products for storage and disposal. 1 lb. of OCLANSORB will absorb approximately 1 gallon of oil. Absorbs hydrocarbons on contact and resists taking on water. Will reduce up to 90% of combustible vapors upon application due to it’s high vapor suppression capacity. Removes ALL free oil from spill sites upon extraction. Absorbs hydrocarbons on land surfaces i.e., asphalt, concrete, motor pool parking lots, and on water.
HOW DOES OCLANSORB WORK?
Absorbs hydrocarbons quickly with it’s capillary action nd porous structure. Encapsulate hydrocarbons, including PCB’s-on contact-taking in the dydrocarbon, rather than allowing the hydrocarbon to attach to the outer surface of the product. Has a 5% moisture level which in it’s high absorbency rate. OCLANSORB goes through a patented process. Easy to apply , easy to clean up. Leaves behind a no messy residue after clean up.
WHAT ARE OCLANSORB’S ADVANTAGES?
Safe for the environment–non-toxic, and biodegradale. Passes the North America Leachate Standards. Will not release captured hydrocrabons into the environment. Reduces man-hours required for clean up. Absorbs all oil based products uncluding PCB’s and oil based paint. Requires less product for spill clean-up which cuts cost. Less product used mean less volume hauled and disposed of in the landfill. SAVES VALUABLE LANDFILL SPACE. Can be incinerated. On it’s own will contribute 7,200 BTU’s per pound during incineration (excluding POL products). And leaves behind only 0.42% ash residual. Recycling and bio-degradability of the hydrocarbons are major environmental concerns where as Oclansorb is the answer to these concers passing the ASTM testing.
Absorption: 1lb. per 1 gallon hydrocarbon
Reaction Time: Instant
Retention: Meets leachate standards. EPA 1311-Paint Filtration 9095, Ttile 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations & California Testing.
Testing: Non-Toxic, environmentally safe
DISPOSAL OF OCLANSORB
Oclansorb has passed all required testing procedures to be disposed of in landfills. (If hazardous material has been absorbed, consult your local officails.) Oclansorb fulfills all waste & disposal requirements of the EPA! If the absorbent you are using does not pass these tests you may be in violation of the law.
The required tests are:
(A) TCLP PROCEDURE 1311
(B) LT50 TOXICITY TEST
(C) PAINT FILTER TEST 9095
(D) ASTM TEST
Oclansorb can be incinerated and burns hotter than coal at 7,200 BTU’s per pound. When incinerated, one ton of Oclansorb laden with oil leaves less than 8.6 pounds of ash. Oclansorb contains all natural microbes and is used in bio-remediation of oil contaminated soils by applying Oclansorbs, tilling, and watering. Oclansorb is a natural landfarming bio-remediation product.
There are 7.1 million varieties of hydrocarbons. Oclansorb absorbs ALL of them! Absorbs oil, not water. OCLANSORB is totally hydrophobic, i.e. it does not absorb water and is oleophilic, i.e. it absorbs oil and leaves absolutely no sheen.
OCLANSORB VS CLAY
Oclansorb absorbs 15 times it’s weight in medium oil! One pound of Oclansorb absorbs one gallon of oil. One 44litre bag replaces 450 lbs. of clay, which is 9 (count them) 9 each 50lb.bags of clay!
This products comes in a 13 Litre Bag and a 44 Litre Bag and also comes in a 55 gallon fiberfilled drum.
Which liquids are absorbed by Oclansorb?
Asetone, Acetonitrile, Amyl Acetate, Benzene, Butanol, 2-Butanone, Bromodichloromethane,Bucker C, Canola Oil, Carbon Disulfide, Carbontetchloride, Chloroform, Chlormethane, Corn Oil, Cutting Oils, Cyclohexane, Dichloromethane, 1,2–Dichloroeteine, Diesel Fuels, Ethanol, Ethylbenzene, Ethyl Either, Ethylene Glycol, Gasoline, Heptane, Hexane, Hexachlorobenzene, Hexacholrobutadiene, Hexachloroethane, Hexene, Isobutanol, Isoprene, Isopropanol, Jet Fuels, Xerosene, Methanol, Methylene, Chloride, Methyl Ethyl Retone, MethylPhenol, Motor Oils, Napthalene, Oil Based Paint, Oil Base Ink, Oil Base Drilling Fluids, Paraffin Oil, Pentane, Pentaciilopiienol, Phenol, Propanol, 48% in acetone, Scintillation Liquid, Silicone OIl (100cs), Styrene, Tetrachloroethane, Tetracahloroethylene, Tetrahydrofuran, Toluene, Trichloroethylene, Trichorophenol, Varsol, Vinyl Acetate, Vinyl Chloride, Xyenes AND EVERY KNOWN TO MAN HYDRCARBON
How much does Oclansorb cost?
OCLANSORB with it’s high absorption capacity results in low clean-up costs. While other oil absorbents may seem less expensive at first glance, OCLANSORB is actually more COST EFFECTIVE. For example, it absorbs medium oil 15 times more efficiently than clay.
What are you buying in Oclansorb?
Absorbption capacity, encapsulation and retention properties and enhanced hydrocarbon biodegrading action, not weight. Oclansorb has been heat processed so that it retains less than 5% water content. In the process it has become oleophilic, oil loving, and hydrophobic, water hating. When Oclansorb is introduced to an oil spill, a unique ” wicking ” action occurs instantly absorbing and permanently encapsulating all hydrocarbons while completely rejecting water. Once encapsulated, hydrocarbons cannot be squeezed, pressed or leached out of the Oclansorb which makes for easy handling and disposal.
Oclansorb also comes in a 55 Gallon Fiber Drum
